Small Miracles and Chipped Varnish

One point. That's what we got. One measly point. And yet I shall prize this point, in the scheme of everything, as it marks a subtle turning point.

The game was a roller coaster: one down; even; one down; two down; one down; even; one down; even. But the Senators rallied to come back every time. Only to be disappointed by a flying Halak in the shootout. I believe they deserved better. I could call the game even, but they dominated the 4 minutes following a lengthy penalty kill- lengthy due to sudden death situations- in overtime.

Elliot stood his ground for the most part, no blame can truly be placed on him; the defence didn't exactly bail him out that greatly tonight. (I miss Anton).

Picard was outstanding offensively, and did not concede any noticeable errors defensively. He's progressed exceedingly since the beginning of the year.

Lee was another noticeable prescence. He used his body very effectively, without needing to hit. I wouldn't mind him being more physically brutal, but he's smart. He took a few instinctive penalties, desperation, and caught in the moment. Nothing more to it. I'd do the same. Experience, right?

Fisher was good. This match reminded me why I found him so valuable: he's versatile in his own way. He can play point, and have an effective slapshot, all the while being a wall before the opposing netminder.

More later.
